Head Coach - Boys Varsity Basketball
Jeff Edwards began his Sabres coaching career as an assistant on the middle school team that won the state championship and finished 2nd overall at the East Coast Tournament. He was an assistant on the JV team last year as well. He also has coached baseball for both the homeschool warriors and West Raleigh All Stars. Jeff works at Cisco Systems as part of the Cyber Security sales force. He has been married to Carrie for over 17 years and is blessed to be a father to Jacey, Chase and Colten. Jeff is looking forward to a great year and mentorship and fellowship with boys over the coming months.
Head Coach - Girls Varsity & Girls JV Basketball
Coach Jared was raised in a family of four children with three older sisters and was homeschooled through 12th grade. From a young age, Jared has enjoyed working with young people. He first started working with children by giving farm tours to local school groups. In his late teens, he began refereeing children in Upwards and also started assistant coaching in basketball.
Jared began playing basketball in an intramural league where he played for three years and then went on to play for the Raleigh Hawks for two years. Jared joined the Sabres their inaugural year and played with them through graduation (three years). After graduation, he became the varsity boys’ assistant coach for two years and the middle school boys’ assistant coach for one year.
In 2013, Jared became the head coach of the middle school and JV girls’ teams, where he has been the head coach for the past three years. Jared is very proud of the girls for their hard work and accomplishments. Jared started the varsity girls’ team for the 2015-2016 season and will be their head coach again this season.
Jared looks at his coaching as a ministry where he can enable the girls to have fun while playing the game of basketball, but also learn life lessons through biblical truth during the process.

Christopher Romeo is a Security executive in the world of hi-tech. Chris has a passion for reaching people for Christ using sports, including basketball and martial arts. Chris is married to his wife of 20 years, Deb, and they have four children. Together the family serves in Moldova during the summer months, leading VBS, teen camps, and serving at Emanuel Baptist Church.
Head Coach - Boys Middle School Basketball
Coach Chapple earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Valley Forge Christian College. He also earned a master’s degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University.
Coach Chapple began his career as an assistant athletic director and assistant basketball coach at Lancaster Bible College. From there he became a head coach at a several colleges including his Alma Mater Valley Forge Christian College (now University of Valley Forge).
Coach Chapple was blessed with the opportunity to play basketball at the NCAA level throughout college. Now, he enjoys working with student athletes and impacting lives through sports. He views coaching as a ministry opportunity.
Coach Chapple has been married for 12 years. He and his wife Laquetta have four children.

Coach Gary Shearin, his wife Missy and their 4 children have homeschooled for the past 18 years and been a part of the South Wake Sabres for the last 5 years. Gary served as head coach of MS Boys and assistant coach of Varsity Boys during the 2015-2016 season. Gary has served as head coach of a Sabres JV Boys team in 2013-2014 season, finishing 2nd in the East Region and as assistant JV Boys coach in 2014-2015 season, finishing 1st in the East Region. Gary played through high school level basketball with the Bunn Wildcats, winning the North Carolina AA State Championship in 1981. He is passionate about sharing Christ with young people and serving in teaching roles in children and youth ministries. For the past 30 years, Gary has served in many church and professional leadership positions, leveraging the gifts and talents that God has given him to lead, nurture, and develop the people that have been put in his care. Gary sees his roles as Sabres coach, elder at Ambassador Presbyterian Church, and as a business leader in the marketplace as opportunities to shepherd others and help them reach their full potential.

Javaux graduated from The Masters College in California with a degree in Physical Education. After a couple of short stints as a teacher Javaux joined the military in 1994 where she served all over the USA and one tour in Afghanistan, serving as a Senior Supply and Logistics NCO.
Javaux started her coaching career as the varsity coach at Cary Christian School in North Carolina while stationed there during her time of service. Under her direction Cary Christian went on to the state championships in 2010.
After retiring from the military In 2014, Javaux became assistant women’s basketball coach at Geneva College in Pennsylvania.
Coach Javaux is also the junior varsity coach for women’s volleyball at Grace Christian Academy in Cary, NC.
Coach Javaux resides in Holly Springs, NC.
